The Virginia Mitchell & Vulcan Municipal Parks are "first come first serve" availability.  No reservations taken.  Self registration on site.

Virginia Mitchell Memorial Park,

16 self-registration sites, available on a first come first served basis. Open May to September. Tap water, flush toilets and showers, sewage disposal, 15 amp power, wheelchair access, children's playground and ball diamonds. Pets are allowed. RATES: honour system - power, water and sewage $25.00/night; tenting $5.00/night.  (2010 rates subject to change)


Vulcan Municipal Park,

10 sites available on a first come first served basis: tap water, a sheltered picnic area, close to Vulcan Arena and Curling Rink.


Vulcan Truck & RV Centre (Petro-Canada), 403-485-6905
Located on the east side of Hwy 23 in Vulcan behind the Petro-Canada Service Station Complex.
Open all year. 35 full service sites, group camping, day-use area, wheel chair accessible, sani-dump, pull through sites, well lit, firepits, firewood (charge), picnic tables, coin laundry, showers, flush toilets, public phone, propane bottle refills, 30 amp electrical service. Pets are allowed. Will accept American Express, Debit, Mastercard and Visa. RATES: power, water and sewage $23/night; power and water $20/night; tenting $16/night.

The motel has a Family Restaurant that is Fully Licensed across from the Front Desk.  At the other end of the Motel there is a Licensed Lounge with a Large Dancing Area, Billiards Table, and Dart Boards.  There is a Picture Gallery that is worth looking at in the Restaurant and at the start of both hallways.  Pictures dating back to 1911 to 1948 of Vulcan and some of the people back then.  We have clean rooms and friendly staff.  13 Double Rooms, 4 Single Queen Rooms, 6 Single Queen Kitchenettes, and 11 Double Kitchenettes Rooms up stairs.  Wireless Internet and smoke free environment.

Vulcan Hotel, 403-485-2386
The Vulcan hotel was originally located in Frank, Alberta. After the legendary Frank Slide, the hotel was torn down and moved in sections to Vulcan where it was rebuilt. The hotel reopened in 1912 and is still operational today.  It has been recently renovated with themed rooms.  There is a room representing each province, Canada, Star Trek, Harley Davidson, John Deere, Sports, Safari, and more!

Sani-dump, showers and washrooms, beach with swimming area, paddle boat rentals, sheltered picnic areas, big screen movies (2 shows/day), fire pits, dock and boat launch. Concession open daily. Max 16 day stay,  group camp area rates. Reservations allowed. $22 per night with no power and $28 per night with power.  (Rates subject to change.) Open from April 1 to Thanksgiving.

Small campground and boat launch located on the NE shore of Travers Reservoir, near Travers Dam.This site provides boat access to the east end of the reservoir. Travers Dam will be closed on June 1, 2009.  The campground will reopen in 4-5 years as it is.

Located 13 km northeast of Lomond, this waterfront campground fills up to capacity for the annual Badger Lake Ice Fishing Derby. No Services.

Lakeshore camping, fire pits, boat dock, 2 camping areas, swimming area, picnic area, washroom, water pumps, fishing, self-registration. (Little Bow Reservoir will be closed after the 2009 September long weekend and will reopen in 4-5 years.  When it reopens it will have a new and improved campground for their guests.)

On the Bow River 35 minutes southeast of Calgary, approximately 4 km south of Carseland on HWY #24.   Day-use area, firepits, horseshoe pits, public phone, tapwater. Self-registration, no reservations. Group camping is available.
