Vulcan Alberta’s relationship with Star Trek dates back to the earliest days of the original series; however, contrary to popular belief Vulcan was not named after Mr. Spock’s ficitious home planet. In 1910, Vulcan was named by a Canadian Pacific Railway surveyor who had a special interest in Roman Mythology – 56 years before the first Star Trek episode aired on television.
